Pick-To-Tote A-Frame

The PTT system ejects orders into a tote that is transported through the system by a conveyor belt. Complete totes are subsequently routed to a packing station for verification and preparation for shipping.

The Pick-to-Tote A-Frame picks at a rate of up to 4,200 orders/hour and up to 99.9% pick accuracy.

Pick-To-Belt A-Frame

The pick-to-belt ejects orders onto a cleated conveyor belt that runs through the center of the A-frame order picking system. Orders are deposited into waiting totes or cartons at the end of the conveyor before being routed to the packing stations.

The pick-to-belt runs at a rate of up to 1,200 orders per hour.

The Mobile Matic, a mobile A-frame, is composed of mobile frames comprising one-sided channels. The frames are wheeled and positioned next to a conveyor belt that moves tote containers along the pick system.

The Mobile-Matic runs at a rate of up to 2,000 orders per hour (depending on order profile).

HOW THE A-FRAME DISPENSER WORKS

The A-frame order picking involves coordinated mechanisms that involve the following:

  • Pick sensors.
  • Dispenser channels.
  • Barcoded totes.
  • Control modules.

The Pick-to-Tote A-Frame dispenser enjoys one of the fastest pick rates because of its capability to pick numerous orders at the same time. It has an impressive speed of up to 4,200 orders per hour, while its smaller mobile version, Mobile-Matic mobile automatic dispenser, runs as fast as 2,000 orders per hour.

Is The A-Frame Fit For Your Project?

These general rules should help you determine if your project is a good fit for the A-frame dispenser:

  • The general rule indicates that you should strongly consider the A-frame when 80 percent of your pick volume is less than or equal to 20 percent of your entire SKU set. It is therefore fitting for large volumes of orders made up of small numbers of units per line.
  • The A-frame order picking technology best serves warehouse fulfillment facilities that cater to large volumes of fast-moving orders with a low number of items.

A-frame products must meet certain dimensional requirements, such as, but not limited to:

  • Boxed items such as beauty and pharmaceutical products.
  • Cylindrical bottles such as health supplements.
  • “Hockey puck”-shaped items.
  • Refrigerated or frozen meals.
  • Weights of less than one pound (454 grams).

Our Work

KISS Beauty Leverages SI Engineering & Design Study Program to
Expand Order Fulfillment Capacity

After merging its four regional distribution facilities into a single 485,000-square-foot warehouse, our client, a global beauty product supplier, was challenged with the task of managing a complex and diverse distribution network of about 50,000 retail locations and a rapidly growing consumer base.

SI performed a comprehensive engineering and design study to provide the client with a warehouse automated order picking system that can handle the massive number of SKUs with accuracy and speed. The warehouse system was also designed to scale for future expansion.

A-Frame Engineering and Design Study

To help you understand your project size and equipment requirements, SI System's engineers will perform an engineering and design study that is broken down into four parts: Product dimensional analysis, layout of product placement, order profiles, and velocity of product movement.
